Wests Tigers halfback Robert Lui has been charged with assaulting his girlfriend and causing bodily harm, after police called to their home yesterday found she had a bruised and swollen face.
Lui had been earlier celebrating with his team.
He has since been stood down by the club and will appear in court to face charges on October 7.
The player has been charged with nine other assault offences against his girlfriend in the past, although she later dropped the charges.
Tigers chief executive Stephen Humphreys said Lui will remain on the payroll but he will not be allowed to work with other players or take part in any activities with sponsors for the time-being.
