Top coach Wayne Bennett's mother sadly passed away this morning after losing her battle with cancer.

Bennett has been on leave from St George Illawarra this week to be by her bedside and is not expected to be at tonight's NRL clash with Parramatta.

It's thought that Bennett's assistant Steve Price will take his place at Parramatta Stadium.
