Former Australian cricket captain and member of the world cricket committee of MCC Steve Waugh has taken a lie-detector test to show how cheating could be eradicated from the game if players showed willing.
The committee is proposing voluntary tests, and believes their use should be widely debated.
Waugh was tested in April by one of Australia's leading polygraph examiners and passed the test convincingly.
He said he underwent the process to encourage other players and was convinced that it would reveal those who had something to hide.
His drastic actions followed last year's betting scam which involved former Pakistan captain Salman Butt, and bowlers Mohammad Aamer and Mohammad Asif, who were all suspended for five years and await trial in the UK.
MCC also wants the ICC's anti-corruption and security unit (ACSU) to carry out 'sting' operations similar to the one carried out by the News of the World last year.
