Vettel Wins Malaysian Grand Prix 11/04/2011 12:02:49 PM

Sebastien Vettel won the Malaysian Grand Prix yesterday with a perfect race, where he started out from pole and easily maintained his lead the whole way.

His Red Bull teammate Mark Webber did not fare so well, struggling with a faulty Kinetic Energy Regeneration System (KERS) at the beginning which saw him drop from third to tenth spot.

Webber fought back though, and managed to finish a respectable fourth.

McLaren's Jenson Button came home second, followed by Nick Heidfield for Renault.

A desperate scramble for a podium position ensued at the end of the race which resulted in Alonso colliding with the rear of Lewis Hamilton's car and causing a broken front wing to the Ferrari which required a pit stop.

Hamilton suffered a slow pit stop and with worn tyres in the closing stages of the race, putting paid to hopes of a podium position.

Both Alonso and Hamilton were also given 20 second penalties for the crash, which pushed Hamilton from seventh to eighth, but had no impact on Alonso' sixth place.
