Mining magnate Nathan Tinkler has withdrawn his $100 million offer to buy the Newcastle Knights this morning, after being angered by comments yesterday from Knights chairman Rob Tew detailing the alleged differences between the two organisations.
Tinkler was to have met the Knights at 2pm today in an attempt to resolve their differences and make good the bid.
However the bid is now off the table, and the Knights have called a press conference at 2.30pm when they are expected to explain what happened and what their plans are to move the club forward without the much-needed deal.
The Knights could be as much as $4 million or more in the red and also owe Tinkler almost $500,000.
