Seven members of Pakistan's national cricket team face an investigation by police into allegations they fixed the outcome of the fourth and final Test match in England and a Pakistani lawyer has actually filed treason charges against them.
The spot-fixing scandal was exposed by British Sunday tabloid The News of The World this weekend.
The lawyer said that the spot-fixing was tantamount to treason as it was a dishonesty against the nation.
He said if the players were found guilty they should be banned for life and have their assets confiscated.
Treason is punishable by death in Pakistan.
