American boxer Antonio Tarver defeated Australian Danny Green at the Sydney Entertainment Centre last night to became a five-time world champion.

Tarver said he knew Green would not be able to stop him with the punch he wanted.

Instead, Tarver rained a flurry of blows on Green until the fight was stopped in the ninth round as Green clung dazedly to the ropes.

Four-time light heavyweight world champion Tarver's record now stands at 29 wins (20KOs) and six defeats in 35 professional fights.
