Australia's Sam Stosur has won the US Open, beating 13-time grand slam champion Serena Williams 6-2, 6-3.

It took Stosur just 73 minutes to dispose of her ranting opponent and her win brought an end to a 31-year drought for Australian women at Grand Slam finals.
