Samantha Stosur has beaten Lucie Safarova 6-0 7-6 (7-1) for her place in the Miami Masters quarter-finals, where she will face Russian Maria Sharapova.  

Stosur had previously lost her last five games against the Czech player.

She has last against Sharapova the last six times they've played, but the Russian former World No 1 acknowledged that Stosur's game has improved since the last time they played in Tokyo, a year and a half ago.
