She was the only Australian to go through yesterday, after Casey Dellacqua and Jelena Dokic both lost their matches, while Lleyton Hewitt withdrew from the tournament just hours before he was due on court, with an injury.

Australia's Bernard Tomic will play against Argentine Carlos Berlocq on Monday.

Stosur said she enjoyed her return to the court where she lost the Grand Slam last year to Francesca Schiavone.
