Casey Stoner starts from pole position in today's British MotoGP on his Honda after recording the fastest time in yesterday's qualifier.

Stoner was juts 188 thousandths of a second faster than Italian Marco Simoncelli, also on a Honda, and Spain's world champion Jorge Lorenzo, on a Yamaha, by 217 thousandths of a second.

Stoner's rival Lorenzo is just seven points ahead of him in this season's standings.
