Australia's biggest sporting bodies are pushing for uniform legislation for betting across all states to help decrease the risk of corruption.
The NRL, AFL and CA want to be able to veto some types of betting and to make sports corruption a criminal offence attracting up to 10 years in prison.
The group put forward their findings today to the federal sports minister, ahead of Friday's meeting with all states' sports ministers.
They have also recommended that all betting agencies must enter into an agreement with all sporting bodies to flag up information on potentially suspicious wagers.
