Football Federation Australia today confirmed the Socceroos will face Thailand in the World Cup qualifying campaign at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium on September 2.

Queensland recently changed government legislation which previously prevented more than 24 games with crowds exceeding 25,000 playing at the stadium.

FFA boss Ben Buckley said they were over the moon to host the game there.

It had been believed that Darren Lockyer would play his final game there on that date, but he is now playing on September 4.

Australia and Thailand are in Group D with Saudi Arabia and Oman. The top two teams go through to the fourth round.
