Yesterday's incredible $1.253 billion tv rights deal to broadcast AFL matches was bolstered by a simulcasting agreement which delivers two incomes from one product.

AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou brokered the deal which sold the game to the Seven Network who will pay less for their rights as they lose total exclusivity, while Foxtel will deliver live broadcasts to millions of fans across Australia.

The AFL will offer more teams and more games by simulcasting on free-to-air and subscription television.
