Serena Williams underwent emergency surgery on Monday to remove a blood clot from her lungs.

She issued a statement yesterday saying she was at home recovering and under strict doctor's supervision.

Williams said it had been ''extremely hard, scary, and disappointing''. She hopes to have recovered in time for summer but her main goal is to get better.
