Defending champion Francesca Schiavone has advanced through to the final at the French Open after defeating Marion Bartoli 6-3, 6-3, and so ended Bartoli's dream of becoming just the second French woman to play in the final at Roland Garros.

Fifth seed Schiavone will face Li Na of China. She will be the first Chinese player to reach a French Open final in Saturday's tomorrow's match.

Schiavone said she hoped her experience from last year's final there would help her, but acknowledged how well Li Na has been playing this year.
