Rugby League Legend Dies 18/06/2011 1:08:24 PM

Footy legend and former rugby league tv commentator Rex Mossop passed away last night. He was 83 years old.

Mossop had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease and was admitted to Royal North Shore Hospital earlier this year.

He joined the Manly Sea Eagles in the late 1950's and was a cornerstone of their forward pack.

He first played for Australia in the Test side in 1958 against the UK in Sydney and went on to play total of nine Test games.

He played 136 games for Manly before retiring in 1963.

He went on to become a well-loved tv commentator on rugby league for Channels 7 and 10 throughout the 70's and 80's.

The Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles club said Mossop would be sadly missed.
