MotoGP officials will investigate the crash caused by Valentino Rossi in Sunday's grand prix in Jerez.

Rossi slid into Australian Casey Stoner as he attempted an ambitious overtaking move.

Marshals then helped Rossi restart and mount his bike, while Stoner was left to fend for himself and was unable to rejoin the race.

The motorcyclenews.com website reported that officials will hold a hearing to discuss the crash.
