Reigning Olympic and world champion swimmer Michael Phelps took gold in yesterday's 100m butterfly finals in Shanghai, while Aussie comeback swimmer Geoff Huegill came a disappointing last. 

Huegill had won this event at last year's Commonwealth Games, but struggled in the last 15m.

Phelps praised Huegill's comeback accomplishments of losing the weight and getting back to top form.

Huegill admitted he was "swallowed up" in the late stage of yesterday's race but was still happy with where he's at ahead of next year's London Olympics.
