Lindsey Vonn from America yesterday won the Women's downhill event, but there were a number of spectacular crashes from other competitors, which left some needing medical attention.
The last jump of the Franz Downhill course, known as 'Hot Air' was the one which caught most out. Travelling at 120kph and flying through the air over a distance of 60m, could certainly cause some trouble.
Apparently speeds were higher yesterday as the rain that had fallen previoulsy had frozen, making it very icy and therefore increasing the speeds of competitors.
The International Ski Federation (FIS) said it would act immediately to improve conditions for today's super-combined event.
