England's Andy Murray has suffered a loss at the hands of Rafael Nadal at the Monte Carlo Open semi final.

Murray started out on great form, taking the second set 6-2, but an elbow injury sustained prior to the match put paid to his chances.

He had been given a pain-killing injection and local anaesthetic to quell the pain but could not stop Nadal from winning 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.

Nadal will face David Ferrer in the final.
