NRL Betting Scandal Unravelled 8/03/2011 3:25:13 PM

Police have revealed they intend to allege that Sam Ayoub and John Elias placed a number of bets on the Cowboys Bulldogs game last year.

Ayoub allegedly placed two bets in Townsville worth $900 and Elias used TAB points at Rozelle and Haberfield on four separate occasions, making alterations to his appearance each time to place the bets.

Police believe Elias placed a total of $5250 worth of bets on the game on August 19.

The pair will go to court on April 7 to face charges of attempting to defraud a betting agency, and if found guilty could be jailed for up to 10 years.
