The NRL betting scandal plot thickened today as former football player John Elias and player agent Sam Ayoub were arrested and charged.
Elias was arrested this morning by a special taskforce set up to investigate the scam, while Ayoub went to Campsie police station and was arrested.
They were both charged with "attempt to obtain financial advantage by deception" and could be jailed for up to 10 years if found guilty.
Meanwhile Ryan Tandy appeared in court today charged with providing false and misleading information to a law enforcement agency.
Police also laid another three charges for three separate occasions of doing the same.
Tandy pleaded not guilty to all four charges.
An earlier game between the Gold Coast Titans and Canterbury Bulldogs in June 2010 is now also allegedly mixed up in the scam.
