Australian racing driver Marcos Ambrose managed to avoid the carnage of 2 accidents during the NASCAR race in Atlanta and claimed 11th place. American driver Kurt Busch took 1st place.
The biggest incident was caused by Carl Edwards, who was 156 laps behind at the time, when he clipped Brad Keselowski's car causing it to spin, then horrifyingly it lifted up into the air at over 300km/hr then landed roof-first on a racetrack barrier.
Fortunately Keselowski was unhurt. Edwards was told to park his car and was summoned to the NASCAR trailer to face the consequences of his rash actions on the racetrack. He was ordered off the track but obnoxiously drove around the track in front of the stands and then went backwards down the pit lane. There was no apology, just arrogance.
Keselowski was understandably worried about the accident and how the spectators' safety had been compromised. He said it was not cool to intentionally wreck someone, and that someone watching from the grandstand could have been killed.
At the restart, there was then another crash which took out seven cars.
