Murray Defeated 2/07/2011 2:45:26 PM

Britain's dreams of having a player in the Wimbledon grand final for the first time in over 70 years were dashed once again yesterday as Andy Murray suffered defeat at the hands of Rafael Nadal, 5-7 6-2 6-2 6-4.

The 24-year-old Scot looked to be a much improved semi-finalist to the one we saw at Wimbledon a year ago.

His physical strength and aggressive determination were apparent for all to see, and he began the match by winning the first set and a bit before a bad forehand miss denied him two break points at 2-1 up.

Nadal held and Murray's service game was filled with errors. Nadal was then unstoppable.

The Spanish great was full of praise for his opponent and said Murray was the best player to never win a grand slam title he'd ever seen.

Murray Defeated in Cincinnati 21/08/2010 2:04:33 PM

Andy Murray has failed to reach the Cincinnati Masters finals after being defeated by the unlikely-sounding named Mardy Fish - an unseeded player from the US.

Murray was not happy with organisers for the midday start in sweltering temperatures - and it was his third day of playing in a row and under such conditions.

The match lasted almost three hours and temperatures on court reached 38C. Murray was visibly drained at points and admitted after the match that he almost threw in the towel.

Fish, a reformed fast-food addict who has lost almost 13kgs, also looked exhausted at times, but managed to pull through and defeat the Scotsman 6-7, 6-1, 7-6.

He will now play Andy Roddick in the semi finals today.
