Controversial former footballer and current coach of UAE side Al Wasl - Diego Maradona - has achieved his first victory for the team as they defeated promoted Emirates a convincing 3-0.

Argentina's Mariano Donda scored the first goal, while captain Essa Ali scored twice in the last five minutes.

Previously, Al Wasl had lost two friendlies as well as the cup opener 4-3 to Al Jazira, under Maradona's coaching.
