Lorenzo out of Moto GP 16/10/2011 12:00:00 AM

Jorge Lorenzo loses part of his finger in an ugly high speed crash today at the exit of Turn 12 after a warm-up race in Phillip Island. The injury to his left hand has seen Lorenzo unfit to compete in the Phillip Island GP.

Casey Stoner now only needs to get sixth place or higher to score the 10 points more than Lorenzo to seal the 2011 MotoGP world championship, which so happens to fall at his homeground on his 26th Birthday.

Lorenzo severed finger is said to be contributed by the strong wind conditions of Phillip Island. Lorenzo's factory Yamaha teammate Ben Spies as also been ruled out of the race after suffering a concussion in a 270kmh crash during qualifying on Saturday.

Its said Stoner visited his Lorenzo in the medical centre at Phillip Island shortly before the Spaniard was transferred to hospital in a private car.
