Brisbane Lions skipper Jonathan Brown is sidelined for the remainder of the season after last Sunday's loss to Geelong when he suffered another sickening blow to the head.
Brown already had a small plate in his face after horrific facial injuries in round one against Fremantle.
The plate has had to be replaced and he has also suffered some fractures to his jaw, which are expected to heal on their own in a few months.
He is expected to make a full recovery, but his season has ended prematurely.
