Magpies coach Mick Malthouse said today he will not coach beyond the AFL Grand Final against Geelong next weekend.
Asked on Channel Seven's Game Day this morning whether he believed the match would be his final as coach he replied ''yes I do...this is the end''.
His new role as Collingwood's director of coaching still has to be clarified, as Nathan Buckly takes over the reins as head coach for the Magpies.
Malthouse said his desire to be a coach and the competitiveness that comes with it would never leave him, and pointed to the late great Allan Jeans as a classic example of being a coach until the end.
