Petra Kvitova has shocked the world by defeating favourite Maria Sharapova 6-3 6-4 to win her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon yesterday.
The eighth seed became the third Czech woman to win the women's Grand Slam at Wimbledon.
Her predecessors - nine-time champion Martina Navratilova and Jana Novotna both watched her incredible win from the royal box at the Centre Court.
For Kvitova, it was her first ever Grand Slam appearance.
She said she cried tears of joy after meeting her idols Navratilova and Novotna after the match.
Sharpova was sorely disappointed to lose out but insisted she will be back to stake her claim again.
She praised her opponent saying, "She's a Grand Slam champion. She has a tremendous amount of potential to go even further and achieve many great things. If she keeps playing like that and keeps her level up, she has a great game for it"
