Katich Vents Anger at CA 10/06/2011 2:33:22 PM

Axed Test cricketer Simon Katich has vented his anger at CA at a media conference in Sydney today.

He disagreed with the reasoning behind their decision not to renew his contract, which they said was due to the opening partnership needing to bed down for 2013 (Ashes series).

Katich said his opening partnership with Shane Watson had been one of the best aspects of the team for the past two years, and felt their decision rested mainly on his age.

The 35-year-old added he believes it is time for a full-time selection panel.

He acknowledged a strength of Australian cricket had always been to select the best available team for the next Test, but thought their policy had changed to look also at potential because the team had been losing and he'd fallen victim to that.

Katich suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury during the second Test against England last summer and has been working hard to to be fully fit again.

He said he won't be retiring from cricket, but will play for NSW and possibly consider playing for an English county cricket team.
