Cricket Australia has named its 25-man list of contracted players for the 2011-12 season and Simon Katich now finds his Test career over after being ditched.
WA skipper Marcus North was also left out, along with James Hopes, Andrew McDonald, Clint McKay, Shaun Tait and Adam Voges.
Katich's serious Archilles tendon injury during the second Test against England last season effectively put paid to his chances at selection.
Up until then, he had been one of Australia's most consistent players.
CA chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch said Katich had been ''a fantastic player for Australia and a key and successful member of the Test team in recent years."
Mike Hussey was given a new contract after his Ashes campaign last year along with NSW paceman Patrick Cummins, Xavier Doherty, Jason Krejza, John Hastings, David Hussey, Usman Khawaja and James Pattinson.
Australian contracted players 2011/12: Doug Bollinger, Michael Clarke, Patrick Cummins, Xavier Doherty, Callum Ferguson, Brad Haddin, Ryan Harris, John Hastings, Nathan Hauritz, Ben Hilfenhaus, Phillip Hughes, David Hussey, Michael Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Usman Khawaja, Jason Krejza, Brett Lee, Shaun Marsh, Tim Paine, James Pattinson, Ricky Ponting, Peter Siddle, Steven Smith, Shane Watson, Cameron White.
