Swindon Town manager Paolo Di Canio has pulled no punches in an interview on the Italian sports site Gazzetta dello Sport, slating the state of football in Italy.
First he took a swipe at the betting scandals which have been plaguing the sport there and said there were fake contracts and players being paid on the sly.
He said the system there is 'erroneous'.
He was also unhappy with Italy placing so much focus on the older players and not allowing the young ones to come through, pointing to Alessandro Del Piero (36) and Francesco Totti (34) who still play important roles for Juventus and Roma as examples.
He said this is why Italian football is in crisis.
