World champion surfer Andy Irons died from a heart attack and a combination of drugs in his system, according to an autopsy.
The primary cause of death was a heart attack related to coronary artery disease, but cocaine and methamphetamine were found to be present in his system.
Prescription drugs were also found in his room.
Irons was discovered dead in his hotel room in Dallas, Texas. He was just 32 years old.
He had been in Puerto Rico for the ASP Men's World Tour, but missed the first and second round heats due to illness.
He was travelling back home to the US but was deemed too ill to travel on his connecting flight from Texas and was grounded there.
He tragically left behind his wife, who has since given birth to their first son.
