Three-time Melbourne Cup winning Jockey Glen Boss is officially out of 2011 Spring Carnival. Boss suffered a shoulder injury in a track-work fall last Friday, which will see him out of action for at least three months. 

Boss underwent surgery on Wednesday revealing that the damage was far worse than anticipated. For the 42 year old, it means a long road to recovery and sitting on the sideline of this years Melbourne Cup. 

Boss's career has seen many injuries with his most notable fall in 2002 when he broke his neck racing in Macau, with an amazing six month recovery, he went on to consecutively win three Melbourne Cups with the Australian champion mare Makybe Diva
