2010 Dally M Rookie of the Year Matt Gillett will replace Broncos skipper Darren Lockyer in tonight's preliminary final against Manly.

Brisbane coach Anthony Griffin said Gillett will concentrate on playing to his strengths rather than trying to be Lockyer.

Griffin conceded the team would miss some leadership and direction in Lockyer's absence but he was certain they would find other ways to compensate.

Lockyer took part in  yesterday's training session with the team, to  boost team morale for the task ahead tonight.

Brisbane have won their last eight games this season, but Manly have won five of the past seven between the clubs.
