Penrith Panthers caretaker coach Steve Georgallis is about to join the Wests Tigers as their assistant coach and right-hand man to Tim Sheens.

He said he'd only just found out about the job there and his manager was currently going through the contract and he hoped the deal would be signed in the next few weeks.

He has also expressed interest in the Bulldogs coach position since Kevin Moore was sacked a few weeks ago.

Georgallis believes that the Tigers would let him go if the first-grade position did come up for him with the Bulldogs however.

But now he is happy, he said it was a good decision for him and his family.
