Gallop Sees Meningas View 17/07/2011 3:27:08 PM

NRL chief executive David Gallop says he can understand why Queensland coach Mal Meninga feels he has been unfairly treated, but believes his attack on the judiciary was over the top.

Meninga has refused to back down on his comments made in last week's Sunday Mail and is facing a defamation suit in the NSW Supreme Court.

Meninga told the Sun-Herald yesterday there was no ill-feeling against NSW coach Ricky Stuart, they have spoken since and he is happy Stuart did not make any personal attacks against him.

Meninga said there were ups and downs in all friendships and the same could be said for Laurie Daley and Brad Clyde.

Meninga is unhappiest about claims that he doesn't actually coach the team.

He hit out at the 'faceless men of influence' who questioned his abilities in the Origin series

David Gallop said yesterday,  ''This court action is about protecting the match review committee.''
