Brendan Fevola revealed on last night's Footy Show he had attempted suicide last year.

It happened between Christmas and New Year after his drinking and gambling meltdown which had lead to him being sacked by the Brisbane Lions.

He had fallen asleep while minding his baby daughter and she had rolled off the bed. He then argued with his wife over the incident, got drunk and slashed his wrists.

He said it was this episode which caused him to go to rehab.
