The Parramatta Eels are on the verge of signing Test centre Willie Tonga, according to The Herald today.

Channel Nine commentator Peter Sterling revealed a conversation he'd had with Eels chief executive Paul Osborne who'd told him they were on the brink of signing a top player.

Osborne said the announcement would be made 'in a few weeks'.

But The Herald believe they have uncovered the player to be Tonga, whose younger brother Esikeli will be joining the team next season too.
