Australian tennis player had Jelena Dokic has confirmed her reconciliation with her controversial father Damir.
Dokic became estranged from her father for several years after he was jailed in 2009 for threatening to bomb the Australian Embassy in Belgrade, the final mark of a series of violent incidents involving the Serbian national.
Despite the colourful past, Dokic has said "I would like to confirm media reports that I have reconciled with my father Damir Dokic," she remains confident that she will return to her former glory of ranking 4th in the world to her now72nd position.
Dokic will continue with her coach Louise Pleming, with her next tour commencing in Linz, Austria. From there Docik hopes to pick up momentum in the Australian Summer season. She believes that with her reconciliation with her father and his acceptance of her partner Tin Bikic, she has a bright future.
"My father was very receptive and I believe he has changed greatly. He understands that I am my own person who makes my own decisions."
"He is now accepting of Tin and I am very pleased we have been able to sort things out. This has been a very uplifting experience for me and for my family. I am very excited about the future."
