Mark Webber's 150th Grand Prix saw him take first position in the race in Hungary and also in the championship overall.
It was another eventful race, with crashes, an errant tyre going hell-for-leather down the pit lane and Michael Schumacher making a crazy move which very nearly caused Rubens Barrichello to crash, there was hardly a dull moment.
The chaos started initially when piece of debris on the track from Vitantonio Liuzzi's Force India caused the safety car to come out.
The majority of the field took the opportunity to pit for a change of tyres, except Webber who was third and ahead of the safety car.
At this point, the Mercedes team failed to fit Nico Rosber's right rear tyre correctly and as he pulled out onto the pit lane the tyre came off and gathered momentum down the pit lane, narrowly missing a Sauber mechanic.
This possibly caused a distraction to Renault's team, as Robert Kubica was then released too early by his lollipop man and immediately ran into the side of Force India's Adrian Sutil as he was on the verge of pulling into his pit entry box, putting paid to Sutil's race there and then.
Kubica incurred a 10 second stop-go penalty for his unsafe release from the pits.
Poor Rosberg could only limp his way down the pit on his three tyres and as the crew were unable to retrieve him, he retired.
The safety car seemed to be helpful to the McLarens at first as it enabled Hamilton to move up to fourth and Button tenth.
Mark Webber was completely unaffected by the safety car the ramefications unfolding and kept his cool.
But Vettel allowed a gap of more than 10 car lengths between him and Webber which is against regulations, and was punished with a drive-through penalty, which clearly enraged him as it took effect on lap 31 he was seen clenching his first in anger and actually let go of the steering wheel momentarily.
Hamilton's bad luck struck in lap 24 when his gearbox gave out, and he was forced to retire.
These incidents paved the way for Webber to take his lead and he calmly managed to extend his lead by enough to take his pit for tyres and rejoin the race still in front where he stayed until the end.
Webber has now won more races this season than any other driver and Grand Prix now takes a short break until the end of August when it returns to Belgium.
